Rockers and bottom contours are extremely important in surfboard design. after all, its the surface that has the most contact in the water.
Not everybody's the same
Mainstream stock brands are very generic in terms of most design features, and custom ordering a surfboard is like ordering a tailored suit. There does seem to be too much emphasis on the "volume" number, and its use on determining the right volume for the individual surfer.
